Polyethylene (PE) by the Metre
PE is an economical, waterproof, lightweight fabric suited to a wide range of applications — tent flys, caravan canopies, domestic awnings and annexes, boat and equipment covers, dome shelters, and waterproof membranes such as dam and channel liners, cricket pitch covers and ground covers. It’s also available in a semi-transparent form (Solarpro) for greenhouse/hothouse covers.
PE can only be joined by hot wedge or hot air welding — it does not bond with HF welding or adhesives. Colour range is limited, reflecting its mainly agricultural and industrial use: Green, Silver, White, Black, Blue and Beige. UV life averages 3–8 years.
Being lightweight and economical, PE is especially well suited to large-scale covers — stockpile covers, dam liners and big equipment covers among them.
